Theses and Major Research

The Messianic Promise in the Song of Hannah: Tracing an Intertextual Thread from 1 Samuel 2:10 to Genesis 3:15

ThM thesis, The Master’s Seminary, 2025.

This thesis argues that Hannah’s reference to Yahweh’s King and Anointed in 1 Samuel 2:10 draws on Balaam’s messianic prophecy in Numbers 24:7–9 and traces that expectation through Genesis 49:8–12 to the promised Seed of Genesis 3:15.

Current Research

My current research focuses on the identification and interpretation of messianic texts in the Old Testament, particularly the Psalms, and on developing a consistent biblical-theological methodology for tracing messianic expectation across Scripture.

A Methodology for Identifying the Messiah in the Psalms

A developing study examining the exegetical, intertextual, and canonical criteria by which individual psalms may be identified as messianic and interpreted within the broader biblical storyline.

The Messiah in the Psalter

An ongoing research project examining the portrait of the Messiah across the Psalms and the ways these texts contribute to the New Testament’s presentation of Jesus as Israel’s promised King.
